"The emotion I put into all of my work stems from years of listening and seeing things
differently than most I believe.  When I was a young boy growing up in a small town in Maine
I was always asked how I can paint the way I do and I would reply, I don't know I just love
to draw and paint.  A gift that I have recognized and shared with others all of my life."

"I was blessed with having a family that shared great art and music with me.  Having been
surrounded by this influence taught me to deeply feel things, especially studying the great
master painters of the past.  This gave me the strength to think, dream, follow my heart and
never be afraid of expressing myself."

Greg Sturniolo's paintings are held in corporate and private collections in New England

"The gift he shares is a reminder of the Maine that we sometimes forget ~ the easy light on a
barn, the changing wind of a season, the elegant lines of a tree.  He helps remind us of why
we live here in the first place".

The Art of Greg Sturniolo
Portland Press Herald "Bob Keyes" Arts Editor
As a realistic painter, Sturniolo is conditioned to reproduce what he sees. But he also has an
artist's license, and in this case he's working for someone "Portland Pirates" who have a
vested interest not only in the sale of the paintings, but also the image they create.

The Fireboat painting was given as a gift to the Portland Fire
Department and the City of Portland in the Fall of 2003. The
unveiling took place outside at Buoy Park on Commercial
Street in front of the Ferry Terminal and where the Fire Boat is
docked.

My inspiration came from a visit to see the fireboat with a few
of the crew from the Portland Fire Department.  I was told
that the boat would soon be retired in the near future.  I then
decided to create a painting that captured this unique boat with
the City of Portland skyline in the background.  This boat has
guarded our city and harbors for many years. Two television
news crews came to cover the unveiling on a bright crisp early
fall day.  Chief Fred LaMontagne greeted me for the
celebration and a small crowd was also on hand for the
unveiling.

The painting now hangs at City Hall in Portland Maine on
permanent collection.
